Amitabh Bachchan helped in the restoration work Charlie Chaplin’s THE FLOOR WALKER by providing financial support. It will be showcased at the 15th edition of the Mumbai Film Festival starting Oct 17. This fest is being presented by Reliance Entertainment and is organised by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI).
Ramesh Sippy, one of the trustees of the Mumbai Film Festival said, ”There is a special section of restored films being shown at the festival. One of the films has been restored by none other than Mr. Amitabh Bachchan. The film is called FLOOR WALKER by Charlie Chaplin. If Mr. Bachchan has taken the trouble to restore it, then it must be classic and a masterpiece.”
“The film is titled ‘Floor Walker’ by Charlie Chaplin. Mr. Bachchan funded the restoration work and this shows his love for cinema. If he has taken the trouble to restore the film, then it must be a classic and a masterpiece,” added the filmmaker who made the cult film “Sholay” with Amitabh and Dharmendra.
The Chairman of the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI), Shyam Benegal said, ”Amitabh Bachchan helped in sponsoring the restoration process. He wanted to be a part of the festival in some way and this was his way of showing support. He has put up the funds to help restore this film which will be presented to all.”
